It is an obligation for the contractor to determine workplace employment contracts through the surcharge provisions (PDFs) contained in collective agreements. TORONTO, August 27 /CNW/ – A national strike in Ontario`s electricity transmission sector, scheduled to begin at 12:01 p.m. .m, has been called off. An agreement has been reached between the Labourers` International Union of North America – Ontario Provincial District Council (LIUNA-OPDC) and the Electrical Power Systems Construction Association (EPSCA), which represents Hydro One owners and other power grid managers. The purpose of this page is to provide successful bidders and/or contractors with important information as part of the Electrical Power Systems Construction Association (EPSCA) process and to facilitate access to collective agreements and salary plans. All questions regarding the following information should be directed to Hydro One.Bidding`s workforce acquisition department for a Hydro One Tender or Request for ProposalThe EPSCA process begins when Hydro One`s Workforce Service (CEF) receives a “work application form” from the project manager. The location and nature of the work as well as the monetary value, the hours of work in the field and the trades to be used are taken into account in determining the work. There are two possible provisions for work needs: the declaration and destination form describes collective agreements and wage plans in place in the area in which the work is performed. See how collective agreements determine how OPG works. EPSCA`s collective agreements and salary plans in the tender packages must serve as a guide and may be amended after tender documents are issued.
For more information, see www.EPSCA.org for the current collective agreements and salary plans of the EPSCA. In addition to EPSCA, OPG has collective agreements directly with two construction unions (BTU) that require contractors to comply with the terms and conditions when working on OPG sites. They are the Canadian Union of Skilled Workers (CUSW) and the Brick and Allied Craft Union (BACU). See current collective agreements and salary plans for CUSW and BACU. Explore work requirements for wages and collective agreements for OPG suppliers and partners. Contractors are required to comply with the terms of these agreements while working on Hydro One sites. OPG also has a collective agreement with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. Through this process, bidders are consulted on tender documents/RFP for work requirements. These include work obligations and related collective agreements, as well as work schedule obligations. “This is a good deal for both the union and employers,” says Harold Bartlett, assistant business manager of LIUNA`s provincial district council. When a work need is defined as Form B, contract suppliers are not required to perform the work by collective agreement. EPSCA negotiates and manages collective agreements with the construction industry for OPG and all contractors working on OPG production sites.
As a result of these agreements, Hydro One has entered into collective agreements directly with the following construction unions (BTU): NOTE: Any company and all its subcontractors that perform certain trades work on existing OPG sites, either in accordance with the EPSCA collective agreements, or with the relevant OPG/Building Trade Union collective agreements or the Machinists collective agreement, to comply with the provisions of these collective agreements. If the CEF finds that the work must be completed as Form B, the contractor is not required to comply with the provisions of the collective agreements, but must pay a “fair” rate of pay, as described in the Form B communication.
